Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, the Digital Content Officer will support the Communications team in creating/updating the Research related content on the website.

 



Duties include liaising with relevant colleagues to collate content, editing and uploading copy and assets (such as photos, videos and publications) onto the CMS (Contensis), and managing the sign off process with key stakeholders.

This role will support the King’s Outreach for Medicine & Dentistry team coordinate summer work experience placements for their year 12 students. Our team’s mission is to provide the information, advice and guidance that widening participation students need to make a successful application to medicine and dentistry. Please find here a link to the KCL Widening Participation team’s strategy. 



As well as working with our partner hospitals, this role will support the team throughout the busy summer period. This may include preparing and delivering presentations, answering prospective student enquiries, supporting in-person & online outreach activities, as well as any other duties to help us deliver excellent summer programmes for our students. 





  • The internship will take place over 11 weeks (approx. 27th June – 1st September 2023)




  • This role will be 2 days a week, working Tuesdays (in office) and Wednesdays (work from home). The candidate may occasionally need to travel to placements, but transport will be covered for those visits. 




  • The working hours are 10am – 5pm  




  • With regular check-ins via Microsoft Teams and some in-person meetings. 




  • Some weeks may require additional hours where we have events, however, these will be agreed in advance with the candidate and as much notice as possible given.

All candidates will need to have a DBS check following successful application, unless they already have a valid King’s DBS



Qualifications

No formal qualifications needed, must be a current student at King’s, including those graduating in 2023.

No direct administration or event delivery experience is necessary. However, we are looking for someone who will be willing to: 





  • Communicate confidently to internal and external stakeholders by email & phone, as well as speaking to large groups of students. 




  • Think on your feet to help resolve general issues.  







  • Have basic competence with the Microsoft Office suite. This includes, Powerpoint, Excel, Teams and Outlook. 




  • Most importantly you should have enthusiasm for promoting the widening participation agenda and fair access to education for all.
