Job Description

We are really pleased to offer this excellent opportunity to join our team in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care as an Undergraduate Intern funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research. This specific internship is to assist the team with a mixed methods systematic review examining the co-design of digital health technologies. 

The internship involves: 1) assisting with screening research studies, 2) supporting data extraction from relevant research studies, 3) helping write up the systematic review, and 4) other ad-hoc duties as they arise. The intern will work with Dr Siobh?n O?Connor, Dr Mengying Zhang and the wider COLLATE study team to conduct the review. 

The role is based at the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care in the research division of Digital Health and Applied Technology Assessment. This division benefits from a multidisciplinary team comprising researchers, educators, health and care professionals, and patient and public involvement representatives. 

Candidates should be highly motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They should have excellent written and communication skills and be able to work and engage with multiple stakeholders. The intern will need to manage multiple deadlines and work independently to achieve these.

Essential criteria

  1. Interest in research and some understanding of research methods.
  2. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication to the situation.
  3. Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise and complete work within deadlines.
  4. Strong organisational and planning skills with proven ability to coordinate and deliver projects.
  5. Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  6. A commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusivity for staff and students.

Desirable criteria

  1. Research experience in digital health demonstrated by participation in delivery of research projects and authorship on academic publications.
  2. Knowledge and experience in using research software such as Covidence, NVivo.
  3. Research experience in Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement.

  • To support the extraction of data from relevant research studies in the review.
  • To help with the analyse of extracted data to generate results.
  • To assist with writing up the systematic review for publication. 
  • To help with disseminating research results to a range of audiences.
  • To work collaboratively with the research team at King?s College London and with collaborating organisations.
  • Ensure confidentiality, research governance and data management in accordance with GCP guidelines.
  • To conduct appropriate risk assessments where necessary and to take responsibility for one?s own and others? health and safety.

This student research internship will involve a number of key tasks led by Dr Siobhan OConnor. This specific scholarship is to assist the team with a scientific review exploring the ethical issues associated with artificial intelligence in nursing and midwifery.

OSCE Invigilation

Tuesday 12th August 2025 & Wednesday 13th August 2025 09.00-13.00.

Applicants must NOT be part of the MPharm course at King's College London or the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine.

Key responsibilities   

  • To support the Lead Invigilator in carrying out their duties by attending briefing sessions prior to and following exam sessions as required.  
  • To assist with setting up the circuit(s): putting out clipboards, sharp pencils, and rubbers inside each station. 
  • Assist with the set-up of equipment (training will be given for the setting up of props or the resetting of station equipment). 
  • To assist students before the exam begins, ensuring that all students are correctly located and ready for the exam.   
  • To invigilate the examination circuits and guide students between stations during the exam.  
  • Direct examiners, patients, simulated patients to the correct stations. 
  • Be the first response for examiner questions or concerns, raising issues with the lead invigilator or senior examiner quickly and efficiently. 
  • To vigilantly monitor the room/allocated area throughout the exam in session whilst not disrupting the candidates; and ensuring a calm environment conducive to supporting students to be successful in their exams.  
  • To ensure that noise levels on the examination circuit are kept to a minimum and that examination conditions are maintained throughout 
  • To promptly report any incidents that may impact a candidate's performance to the Lead Invigilator, Circuit Lead (Marshall), OSCE Site Lead, or Senior Examiner. 
  • To ensure that, at the end of the exam, all iPads and materials are collected and returned to the relevant place according to set procedures as advised by the Lead Invigilator.
