Dr Hillary Briffa and Dr Anna Plunkett are looking for two PhD Researchers to support the launch of the Academic Scholarship in Politics and International Relations Education Network. The event will include keynotes from leading Educators within Politics and International Relations, interactive roundtables, and opportunities for networking with those on teaching track and related contracts from across the UK. They are looking for two individuals to support in hosting and managing these events throughout the afternoon (e.g. registration, running microphones, supporting groupwork etc.), particularly anyone who would be interested in gaining insight into the academic education pathway and pedagogical research space.  For further information, please email anna.plunkett@kcl.ac.uk as soon as possible.

The GNET intern will assist the Project Manager with various tasks, including but not limited to social media management, event promotion, data organization, and potentially copy editing. Ad Hoc tasks will also arise. Strong communication skills, cultural competency, and organisation are very ideal. To support and assist King's Climate & Sustainability (KCS) to manage our data and reporting activities for 7-14 hours a week. It is crucial that the Sustainability Data Assistant works alongside the Sustainability Engagement Manager and Principal Analyst (Sustainability) and as part of the KCS team, to understand and contribute to the team's data management priorities for maximum impact. 

 

Tasks may include (but not limited to): 

King?s Climate and Sustainability engagement data management: 

Working with the Sustainability Engagement Manager to develop a database to manage King?s Climate & Sustainability engagement data for campaigns, events and other relevant activities, building on existing data collection and giving careful consideration to how the data is organised and managed to enable effective analysis. 

Develop ideas for improvements to data collection processes, including the alignment (and development where necessary) of feedback forms.  

Analyse engagement data to draw insights on how the King?s community is engaging with KCS activities, making recommendations on how this might inform our Comms & Engagement Strategy.  

 

Sustainability in the curriculum ? research and measurement: 

Working with the Principal Analyst ? Sustainability and Project Manager (Education), conduct research into methods used by other institutions to measure embeddedness of sustainability in the curriculum.  

Based on outcomes of research, support the Principal Analyst to begin testing approaches to measurement, for example through the use of AI tools. 

 

Sustainability Reporting ? dependent on start date, a number of projects may be underway and require support, such as: 

Supporting the development of reporting assets as required for the Annual Sustainability Report, translating data into accessible and appropriate formats. 

Other key data and reporting projects as required.  

 

Role information:  

This role is hybrid and flexible (strongly prefer 1 regular day in the office). The KCS office is based on the Strand campus.

Technical: 

Data management ? ability to develop processes for managing and maintaining contacts data in a streamlined and efficient manner. 

Data collection - experience in gathering and compiling data from various sources and an interest in improving the efficiency of these processes, for example through automation. 

Data modelling and analysis ? expertise in developing and implementing data models to support business intelligence. 

Data analysis - strong analytical skills to interpret and analyse data to support decision-making processes. 

Power BI ? proficiency in creating reports in Power BI to visualise and communicate data insights. 

Tools ? Advanced Excel including data manipulation, pivot tables, and complex formulas; Experience building reports in Power BI is desired; Experience using any programming languages (DAX, M, Python) is a plus.  

 

Other skills:

  • Escorting teams & judges to Somerset House East Wing (SHEW) and to rooms.
  • Checking rooms in advance ? layout etc
  • Escorting students to Bush House for final event/reception
