Job Description
The GENDERGY project examines how the global energy transition impacts labour and land dynamics in Africa and Latin America, with a focus on gendered precarity. The research explores the legal frameworks governing land tenure, labour rights, and investment law, as well as legal mobilizations in response to socio-economic disruptions.
It is a cross-institutional research collaboration among Tilburg University (Netherlands), University of Cape Town (South Africa), Funda??o Getulio Vargas (Brazil), and King?s College London (UK), supported by the Law Schools Global League (LSGL).
Research assistants will support the project team by conducting research and contributing to data collection and analysis. The research assistant will help the project team to develop an open-access database of legal frameworks governing the energy transition and its intersections across land, labour, and investment law, as well as case documents from legal mobilizations in the selected countries, the appointed researcher will be expected to:
- Conduct literature and legal reviews on legal frameworks related to investment law with reference to the laws and contexts of Latin America
- Review and code relevant documents (with a focus on Peru) to build an open-access database
- Support the development of an open-access database
- Contribute to policy and legal analysis within the project's scope
- Assist with research coordination
Please note the pay rate is ?18.73 for PG level and ?21.09 for PhD level.

Qualifications- Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate program in law, political science, or a related field
- Strong research and analytical skills, with experience in legal and policy research
- Familiarity with labour law, land rights, investment law, mining or energy transition policies preferred
- Familiarity with literature on the gendered impacts of environmental harms, preferably from a global South perspective
Skills- Ability to work independently and as part of an international research team
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish is a strong asset
- Familiarity or willingness to use Excel to build a database
- Familiarity or willingness to use Zotero as citation software
- Familiarity or willingness to use NVivo or similar software to code relevant documents
