OSCE Invigilation

 Tuesday 20th May  2025 & Wednesday 21st May 2025 - Guys Campus.

Applicants must NOT be part of the MBBS course at King's College London or the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine.

Key responsibilities   

  • To support the Lead Invigilator in carrying out their duties by attending briefing sessions prior to and following exam sessions as required.  
  • To assist with setting up the circuit(s): putting out clipboards, sharp pencils, and rubbers inside each station. 
  • Assist with the set-up of equipment (training will be given for the setting up of props or the resetting of station equipment). 
  • To assist students before the exam begins, ensuring that all students are correctly located and ready for the exam.   
  • To invigilate the examination circuits and guide students between stations during the exam.  
  • Direct examiners, patients, simulated patients to the correct stations. 
  • Be the first response for examiner questions or concerns, raising issues with the lead invigilator or senior examiner quickly and efficiently. 
  • To vigilantly monitor the room/allocated area throughout the exam in session whilst not disrupting the candidates; and ensuring a calm environment conducive to supporting students to be successful in their exams.  
  • To ensure that noise levels on the examination circuit are kept to a minimum and that examination conditions are maintained throughout 
  • To promptly report any incidents that may impact a candidate's performance to the Lead Invigilator, Circuit Lead (Marshall), OSCE Site Lead, or Senior Examiner. 
  • To ensure that, at the end of the exam, all iPads and materials are collected and returned to the relevant place according to set procedures as advised by the Lead Invigilator.

This short-term post is an excellent opportunity for a skilled data analyst with an interest in equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) to support the King's College London INKLUDE project, a Wellcome-funded initiative designed to address structural inequities within the university environment. 

INKLUDE is a university-wide initiative based at King?s College London, supported by the Wellcome Trust, and designed to challenge structural inequities and embed inclusive research cultures. The team works across multiple work packages including data, policy, leadership development and organisational change.  

About the INKLUDE project and team: INKLUDE | King's College London Intranet.  

You will be working as part of a cross-functional team, analysing and interpreting data collected during a major institutional EDI rapid review, with a particular focus on surfacing missed insights, identifying equity gaps, and strengthening the evidence base for action. The role also involves working closely with the Work Package 4 team (enactment and interventions) to ensure data is meaningfully integrated into strategy and stakeholder workshops. 

As part of the INKLUDE project a far reaching external review was undertaken of KCL policies and procedures regarding the promotion and retention of staff. This led to a comprehensive set of quantitative and qualitative data and a number of recommendations for change. The INKLUDE team now wish to recruit a data analyst to undertake a secondary analysis of the data with a particular focus on surfacing missed insights, identifying equity gaps, and strengthening the evidence base for action. This would include the production of summary visualisations, reports, and slides to communicate findings clearly to internal stakeholders. 

The ideal candidate will be confident working with both quantitative and qualitative data, able to present complex findings clearly, and comfortable navigating data and language through a critical EDI lens. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  1. Re-analyse and interpret quantitative survey data and a sample of qualitative interview data from the rapid review to identify missed trends, equity issues, and actionable gaps. 
  2. Produce summary visualisations, reports, and slides to communicate findings clearly to internal project teams. 
  3. Support the integration of data findings into WP4 planning workshops (e.g. by attending, feeding in data, or helping design data-led tools). 
  4. Work collaboratively with the INKLUDE team, co-leads, and external engagement teams to ensure data informs institutional change. 
  5. Contribute to the development of a concise, internal strategy summary that supports decision-making and aligns with institutional priorities.

  1. Strong experience in data analysis (quantitative essential, qualitative desirable), including summarising, visualising, and identifying key themes or associations. 
  2. Proficiency in tools such as Excel, PowerBI, and/or statistical packages (e.g. SPSS, R, Stata, or Python). 
  3. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex findings clearly, both in writing and verbally, to varied audiences. 
  4. Sensitivity to EDI principles, and ability to interpret data through an equity lens (experience in EDI or related work is highly desirable). 
  5. Experience working on short-term, impact-focused projects, ideally in a higher education or research context. 
  6. Familiarity with participatory or co-produced approaches is a bonus.

Our apprenticeship offer is rapidly expanding, and we are seeking passionate and driven Skills Reviewers who are committed to working with our academics and industry partners to

develop the best Higher and Degree Apprenticeships in the sector. This particular post will sit

within the School of Construction, Property and Surveying.

 

The role holder will liaise with employers to support the negotiation of the apprentice?s learning needs in the workplace, and work with academics to provide coaching and support to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours they will need to successfully complete their apprenticeship. Progress review meetings with each apprentice will be undertaken each quarter for the duration of their programme, often at the apprentice?s workplace so you will need to be mobile and flexible.

 

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with extensive sector or subject knowledge, industry experience, as well as an understanding of professional development and work-based learning. They will be comfortable working independently and will have excellent organisational and time management skills.

 

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

  • Work alongside both the Apprenticeship Team and School academics to provide proactive and reactive vocational and educational support to apprentices throughout the apprenticeship scheme.
  • Review The apprentices Skill Scan and job role to establish an assessment plan for achieving the Skills, Knowledge and behaviours both in the workplace and University activities over the duration of the apprenticeship.
  • Host End Point Assessment (EPA) initial briefings at early part of the apprenticeships and during the apprenticeship. The aim of these is to ensure the employer, the apprentices and key academic colleagues fully understand the EPA process, time frames and expectations.
  • Undertake regular progress review meetings with apprentices and mentors as required. These meetings will either take place at the apprentice?s workplace; the University; or via video call 
  • Monitor and record apprentice progression against knowledge, skills, and behaviour standards (as well as functional skills where appropriate) and provide feedback to both the apprentice and their line manager.
  • Work with academic colleagues to support the agreement of on and off job development plans with the apprentices and monitor and record progress to ensure that both the University and employer remain compliant.
  • Work with the Apprenticeship Office and Teaching, Quality and Enhancement team to ensure all quality assurance requirements relevant to the educational support of an apprentice are being met.
  • Ensure that all learning activity is recorded and auditable in line with funding regulations and that any University delivery, process and monitoring systems are adhered to within the agreed time limits.
  • Coordinate with the End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) to ensure the Apprentice has good access to support materials and preparation guidance for the EPA.
  • Complete any required learning and development activities required to enhance your knowledge and perform the role more effectively.
  • Ensure that procedures for access to, and retention of, information within the school comply with the requirements of the University and the General Data Protection Regulation.
  • Contribute to Ofsted Inspections and other Quality processes to promote best practice and Outstanding Apprenticeship provision. Work with Colleagues to plan and carryout your work in line with the Education Inspection Framework or the current equivalent.
  • Commitment to all areas of activity including EDI and the LSBU Behavioural Framework.
  • Adhere to the policies, regulations and values of the University.

 

The reporting manager may request additional duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role.  Within reason, the duties and role of the post holder may be changed, after appropriate consultation, in response to changing organisational requirements.
