Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Accommodation Professional to join the Summer Accommodation team at King's College London. Based at Strand campus, and reporting to the Summer Reservation Manager,  you will be responsible for managing the summer accommodation bookings and customer service to both internal and external customers.

Duties include:

  • Working with internal and external summer school clients, to deliver approximately one hundred thousand bed nights over a ten-week period. The role is the main point of contact for all summer accommodation requests.
  • To manage enquiries and coordinate summer residential accommodation for all groups and individuals.
  • To manage booking for all Halls of Residences through all booking channels including Online Travel Agents (OTA?s).
  • To manage enquiries for summer residential accommodation for small groups and individuals.
  • To support residential groups across the residences and be a point of contact for clients
  • Manage current group bookings including obtaining and uploading delegate lists and rooming guests.
  • To oversee all Internal and external Sumner clients? bookings to deliver approximately one hundred thousand beds over a ten -week period.
  • Assist in clients' sales leads, organise site visits and coordinate all aspects of bookings to ensure an efficient service.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time by the Summer Reservation manager.
  • Be flexible and adaptable Inc. shift patterns and location to meet the demands of the business.

Qualifications

Educated to graduate level or equivalent - Desirable

Previous rexperience in a Residential Venue/Hotel environment - Desirable

Experience in prioritising tasks and managing busy workloads successfully to ensure that deadlines are met - Essential

Client management as well as account management experience - Desirable

Knowledge and understanding of PMS, channel management and best practices - Desirable

High level of attention to detail - Essential 

Ability to take the initiative and seek to constantly improve performance - Essential

The King?s Parliamentary Research Internships programme is a unique opportunity for King?s PhD and post-doc researchers to engage directly with the inner workings of parliament and policy, alongside their academic studies.

About the Role

Interns will be individually matched with Peers, providing the opportunity to observe and, indirectly, contribute to the business of the Lords. They will work both independently and with some involvement in broader engagement fora and structures including (potentially) APPGs, select committees or wider shadowing of and involvement in Peers? individual work beyond Parliament.

Whilst each opportunity will vary in its specific projects and scope, individuals will work with Peers to identify and agree a programme of work that is likely to include tasks such as provision of research support and analysis, written briefings or summaries, preparation for committees and support to all aspects of the Peer?s work. Most Peers work across a range of issues and so interns will be expected to provide research on issues that extend beyond their primary or core discipline.

In partnership with their Peer, each intern will agree a work schedule that suits both parties and may include working from time to time on the Parliamentary Estate. In this case, and subject to security checks carried out by Parliamentary services, it may be possible for the Peer to secure a Parliamentary Pass for the duration of the internship.

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to develop their knowledge, attributes and skills through new experiences which help bring their academic study to life.

Core tasks are likely to include:

  • Horizon scanning for forthcoming issues that lie within the Peer?s areas of interest
  • Analysis, evaluation and interpretation of data to ensure they are accurately informed
  • Preparation and presentation of research and analysis for the purposes of briefing notes for committees, articles, presentations and press releases
  • Preparation and presentation of research and analysis for drafting of oral and written questions and for spoken contributions in debates
  • Support for specialist commissions or inquiries in which the Peer may be engaged
  • Research into aspects of legislation and policy to support engagement with bills at all their stages in the Lords
  • Research into specific policy areas, as agreed, to support development of Private Members? Bills
  • Identifying subject experts and stakeholders on specific topics, convening meetings and roundtables for the Peer, where appropriate
  • Monitoring media coverage and briefing accordingly
  • Bringing research-informed advice to specific policy matters
  • Keeping abreast of developments relating to key issues of interest, as agreed, to ensure the Peer is well informed in a fast-changing environment
  • Dealing with particularly complex queries on the Peer?s behalf, including drafting letters

ALL APPLICANTS MUST BE A CURRENT (2024-25 ACADEMIC YEAR) KING'S COLLEGE LONDON PhD STUDENT OR POST-DOC RESEARCHER.
Applicants from other programmes or individuals who do not meet this criteria will be automatically rejected as ineligible.

  • The interview & asssessment process will consist of:
    • A pre-drafted written task, to be shared with us via the email provided, before your interview slot. Shortlisted candidates will be given at least 3 working days to complete this task.
    • A 45-50 minute online panel interview with members of The Policy Institute and the House of Lords.
  • The panel will make their assessment on the marking scheme for their interview questions - alongside considering the research and experience match of shortlisted candidates, based on the specific Peers who have chosen to host an intern in any given year. The two of these factors together will determine successful candidates and the specific match to a Peer.

The Pathway Assistant role is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the student journey and to the experience of your peers within the respective pathways on the LLM programme. The role is a paid role and you will work closely alongside the Pathway Leader, the Student Experience Manager and Officer, the Law Careers Consultants and other key stakeholders in the Law School and the University. We are ideally looking for applications from current students on the relevant pathway.



 



Job Description



The main responsibilities of the roles are as follows:




  • To liaise with students on the pathway and to feedback to the Pathway Leader, Student Experience Manager/Officer and at relevant Postgraduate Taught (PGT) Committees any relevant issues impacting on course delivery and the student experience within the pathway. To support the Pathway Leader in fostering an engaging and interactive community within the pathway;

  • To work with and to support the Pathway Leader with the promotion and marketing of the pathway & the organization of relevant social events to students and applicants.

  • To work collaboratively with the Law Consultant in Careers and Employability in identifying and promoting relevant career events and activities to students on their pathway;

  • To support the Student Experience Manager/Officer in organizing and delivering relevant events to support students on the LLM programme;

  • To support the Pathway Leader and Student Experience Manager in devising action plans in response to student feedback and disseminating information of those actions to the students;

  • To promote student feedback mechanisms such as module evaluations and programme surveys throughout the year

The main purpose of the role is to represent student interests on their learning experience on the pathway as well as fostering a sense of community among students within the pathway. Pathway Assistants are a key part of student voice mechanisms and will be asked to promote student feedback mechanisms such as module evaluation and various other surveys throughout the year. Accordingly, you will be a key point of liaison for disseminating information about the pathway to students, and collating information and feedback from students. You will be invited to attend PGT committees and represent your cohort at the LLM Student-Staff Consultative Committee which meets termly
