Student Researcher

 

Job Description

We are seeking to employ a Research Assistant (RA) for two weeks to analyse existing student feedback. The faculty of Dentistry currently has a large repository of qualitative student feedback in the form of NSS free text responses, Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLCs) minutes, module evaluations etc, which is not being optimally used. The RA will undertake a detailed qualitative thematic framework analysis of existing student feedback and produce a detailed, searchable report. This work will enable us to:




  • Make optimal use of existing data, rather than collecting additional data via focus groups and surveys.

  • Focus in on existing data on the areas of key concern to the faculty in our NSS response.

  • Share outcomes of the analysis and report with all other Workstreams to support/inform the delivery of their interventions.

  • Progress the delivery of the following CCSE Workstream Objective: Collate and create a student and staff voice data repository, to support the development of faculty strategy and interventions to improve student/staff experience.



The following raw data will be analysed:




  • NSS free text responses (2017 – 2023)

  • All available SSLC Minutes

  • All available Module evaluations



We expect that this work will take no more than 70 hours, and it can be undertaken flexibly and remotely.

This position is open to undergraduate and postgraduate taught students from any discipline 



Skills

  1. Confidence in performing qualitative thematic framework analysis

  2. Proficient in English language

  3. Skilled at report writing and communicating complex findings to different audiences

The hours of work per week will vary depending on event requirements. There is no minimum hours required to work per week, however students are expected to work a minimum of 2 events /open days

Requirements; - Students should have a good knowledge of living and applying to live in King?s College London Halls of Residences. Personal characteristics/ other requirements; - Current student at King?s College London - Currently live or lived in King?s College London residences - Excellent team player - Friendly and approachable face-to-face manner - Enthusiasm for Higher Education and King?s - Ability to multi-task and work to deadlines - Ability to work independently and take the initiative when necessary - Willingness to work out of normal hours and occasionally travel for work as necessary - Highly organised - Willing to offer training and support to others in best practice



Skills

Experience; - Experience of working with children and/or young people - Experience of delivering tours or presentations Skills; - Ability to prioritise workload -Good attention to detail - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Confident speaker with the ability to engage audiences - An eagerness to attract students to study at King?s College London - Ability to absorb new information

BSc in Psychology or equivalent, including knowledge of ADHD.
