Kings Residences Under-18s Administrator- Great Dover Street, Borough.



This is a unique opportunity to join the King’s Residences department, as part of the Wellbeing team. In King’s Residences, we strive to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for students to live, study and thrive within. The department currently houses around 5500 students every year, and within this community we have approximately 350 students living with us who are under the age of 18.



The purpose of this role is to support with the daily monitoring, support and safeguarding of the under 18 student cohort in Hall of Residences. Due to their age, we have an increased duty of care towards these residents, which requires checking and monitoring their wellbeing on a daily basis, as well responding to any concerns that may arise and escalating any instances of concern. The role is supported by the Residences Welfare Officer and Residences Wellbeing Manager.



The assignment is for a 0 hours, indefinite contract.  Shifts will be offered as and when required- including bank holiday and weekend work. Please confirm that this structure is suitable before applying for this role.



The assignment will commence on Saturday 15th April 2023 for 3 hours training (at double rate pay).



 



DBS not essential but your application will be prioritised if you have one.

Applicants must NOT be part of the MBBS course at King's College London or the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine.

Key responsibilities   

  • To support the Lead Invigilator in carrying out their duties by attending briefing sessions prior to and following exam sessions as required.  
  • To assist with setting up the circuit(s): putting out clipboards, sharp pencils, and rubbers inside each station. 
  • Assist with the set-up of equipment (training will be given for the setting up of props or the resetting of station equipment). 
  • To assist students before the exam begins, ensuring that all students are correctly located and ready for the exam.   
  • To invigilate the examination circuits and guide students between stations during the exam.  
  • Direct examiners, patients, simulated patients to the correct stations. 
  • Be the first response for examiner questions or concerns, raising issues with the lead invigilator or senior examiner quickly and efficiently. 
  • To vigilantly monitor the room/allocated area throughout the exam in session whilst not disrupting the candidates; and ensuring a calm environment conducive to supporting students to be successful in their exams.  
  • To ensure that noise levels on the examination circuit are kept to a minimum and that examination conditions are maintained throughout 
  • To promptly report any incidents that may impact a candidate's performance to the Lead Invigilator, Circuit Lead (Marshall), OSCE Site Lead, or Senior Examiner. 
  • To ensure that, at the end of the exam, all iPads and materials are collected and returned to the relevant place according to set procedures as advised by the Lead Invigilator.

Skills

Role: The role will act as a Manager on Duty, supervising the centre and team you are working with, to ensure the safe and effective running of the facilities. This will include ensuring facility space set up and break down is completed accurately and on time, that the centre remains clean and tidy, is checked regularly and any faults reported to Estates, and engineers visiting on site are liaised with to complete outstanding tasks fully. Some handling of customer queries and complaints is expected, general trouble shooting and management of facilities and report of faults as and when they occur. Training and support will be provided by the senior management team, and any serious complaints or building defects will be expected to be passed on to them for assistance.   

The role will also involve supporting the receptionist at front of house, while will require excellent customer service skills as well as answering customer and staff in person queries, calls and emails; taking card payments and bookings; administering memberships, giving centre tours when required.
