Job Description
Nyra is a KCL impact venture that uses multi-sensory arts-based approaches to harness the uncaptured value of products developed from sustainable farming practices in Africa. People in the UK who are concerned about climate change invest in farmers in low-income settings who want to implement climate-smart agricultural practices but lack the necessary finance. We work with local agronomists, environmental geographers, manufacturers and artists to develop products that sequester more carbon than they produce. We gift these to investors to connect them to their investments. Artistic enhancements of these products and accompanying narratives on their impacts are used to collapse the geographic, temporal and positional distance between investors in the UK and their farm-level investments in Africa.
Nyra is seeking a dedicated Research Assistant to support our sustainable packaging strategy. This space offers diverse options and is difficult to navigate due to greenwashing and unsubstantiated claims. We are, therefore, recruiting a research assistant to investigate the sustainability of different packaging options tailored to our planned products, develop a database of prospective suppliers, obtain quotes, and lead other relevant information.
This role is for 100 hours of work, inclusive of meetings with the Nyra team. It is remote, with the option to attend some meetings in person if London-based. The appointed Research Assistant will collaborate with a team of researchers and the founding directors to bring Nyra to life. They must be able to commit to weekly online meetings and use Nyra OS to track tasks and engage with the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and summarise guidance and evidence on sustainable packaging options.
- Develop a list of prospective packaging companies and obtain quotes.
- Evaluate the sustainability credentials of various packaging solutions and recommend suitable options.
- Collaborate with other researchers to ensure packaging aligns with Nyra?s branding and sustainability goals.
Interested candidates should submit a CV and a brief statement outlining their relevant experience and motivation for applying to:
