Job Description
To work on a clinical skills sustainability project which aims to reduce the carbon footprint of clinical skills education at the Simulation and Interactive Learning Centre (SaIL). The role purpose is to enhance the recycling and reuse of clinical skills equipment through sustainable waste disposal and the introduction of an awareness campaign.
QualificationsTo be a student or alumni from Healthcare Programmes in NMPC or FoLSM, with any previous experience or interest in sustainability.
Undergraduate applicants should be in the final year of their degree or master's programme and up to date with all theoretical and practical assessments and hours, completed documentation. If applicable, please also include an email confirmation from your personal tutor to acknowledge that you are up to date with your course requirements.
SkillsCreation of multi-media induction materials with a focus on sustainable practice. Appropriate disposal and recycling of paper elements of clinical consumables. Collection and redistribution of unused items e.g. solution trays and reuse of dry/clean equipment to other sessions. Introduction of a campaign to raise awareness about using and recycling gloves and aprons during practice sessions, while ensuring competence in PPE use and disposal in the clinical workplace. Audit of clinical waste produced from clinical skills or simulation sessions following risk assessment guidance. Data entry using Excel, measurement and data analysis. Presentation of results to student groups, Faculty staff and national conferences. Literature searches and reviews. Report writing with an opportunity to be involved in publications to disseminate the project
