Event Assistant STRAND On Campus Open Day

Job Description

We are looking for event assistants to provide support at our on-campus undergraduate open day event on Saturday 14 October 2023 where prospective students will experience King’s and discover their study options.   

 

There are a number of jobs required for this event, which includes:  





  • Maughan Library Tour Guides (please note: this role will be allocated to current Campus Tour Guides only): show visitors around the library. 




  • Information Point Assistants: answer visitor questions. 




  • HQ Assistants: support the events team with ad hoc tasks. 




  • Gym Tour Assistants: take visitors from Strand campus to the Strand gym. 




  • Open Day Stewards: direct visitors to where they need to go and answer any questions they might have. 







  • Registration Assistants: scan visitor's tickets and hand out brochures and wrist bands. 




  • Room Assistants: help staff usher visitors into and out of the talk spaces. 




  • Admissions Assistants: support admissions by talking to visitors and answering their questions. 




  • Student Ambassador reps: look after the ambassador breakout space where students can store their belongings safely (this role can be shared between two ambassadors so you can take it in turns to do other jobs). 





In order to fulfil the requirements for this role, please ensure you are available to attend one of our unpaid online briefing sessions which will cover health & safety and the details of your role. These will take place on the following dates, and we will be in touch with the times in the coming weeks:  





  • 27 Sept – 15:00-16:00 




  • 2 Oct – 12:00-13:00

We're looking for enthusiastic and energetic King’s Student App Promoters to spread the word about our innovative app across different King’s campuses. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with the King’s students and support them with trying the app, which ultimately will improve their student experience.  



You can start straight away! 

We are looking to hire 4-6 King’s Student App Promoters as soon as possible to work until Friday 29th September 2023. The hours will be mostly full-time (excluding weekends).  



 



Key Responsibilities 





  • Face of the app: Be the driving force behind promoting the King’s Student App on various campuses, creating excitement and buzz 







  • Engage with Students: Interact with students, explain the different benefits of the app and how this can enhance their student experience 




  • Event Logistics: Set-up and pack down promotion stalls, help with moving, storing and organising app merchandise 




  • Promotional Content: There may be a chance to get involved with content creation for various King’s channels to promote the app

Must be a King’s student or King’s Alumni

The Centre for Sustainable Business (CSB) is seeking two part-time research assistants to contribute to a research profile mapping project. This initiative aims to map existing publications, research undertaken, and future research interests of academics at King's Business School (KBS). The objective is to facilitate information sharing and collaboration while providing strategic directions for CSB to carry out work that benefits the academic community. 



The research assistants will assist with both online and offline research, including extracting online information and corroborating it with offline interview/survey data collected from KBS academics. They will also be responsible for producing research reports. 



The job is flexible and very suited to PhD students working on or interested in areas of Business Studies and Digital Methods. 



Qualifications

MA in Business Studies or Informatics/Digital Humanities; ideally a PhD student in this area

Skills Required:  





  • A background or strong interest in the research areas  




  • Experience in carrying out primary and secondary research 




  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 




  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines  





Desirable Criteria: 





  • Experience assisting collaborative research projects   




  • Familiarity with web scraping techniques and tools 




  • Experience or interest in stakeholder liaison  




  • Ability to work independently and proactively to the standards required
