Research assistance for coding a series of interlinked smart contracts to run on the Ethereum Virtual Machine


MSc Computer Science/Informatics

Experience with Ethereum

to provide second line support to users to assist in the provision of a reliable and stable information systems service. Typical duties will include support for devices including personal computers, terminals, printers, mufti-function devices, smart phones, hand held computers and other mobile technology equipment. Also providing hardware and software support for both staff and student PC?s, as well as support to users themselves. This will include installations, troubleshooting, creating network and mail accounts, and drive access requests. Those who prefer to isolate themselves from end users will not be suitable for this role.
The IT Support team is responsible for ensuring that a high level of customer service.
Deliver IT Support both remotely and via desk side visits as required, ensuring that incidents are prioritized appropriately.

Professionally qualified and/or appropriately experienced

Able to install, configure, upgrade and test desktop computers, peripherals and basic office applications.
Experience of hardware servicing.
Experience of M/S Windows and MAC OsX.
Experience of installing and trouble shooting software
A proven track record of working in IT Support
Ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines
Excellent communication, liaison and coordination skills

To operate as an effective member of the team; provide support, assistance and cover to other members of the team; supporting colleagues without waiting to be asked.

We are currently recruiting for a temporary part-time Developer/Designer to assist with the development of the Queen Mary Network (QMN), an online community platform for current and future students, staff, and alumni. We would be interested in applications from students from the Faculty of Science and Engineering. 

Building on existing development work, the platform can be transformed by the right candidate by enhancing current capability and working with the Alumni Engagement team to take a leading role in making the platform accessible to all stakeholders, driving user habits to increase levels of engagement and to increase registration numbers of alumni, current and prospective students, and staff. 


  • Design, implement, and maintain custom modules based on stakeholders’ requirements 

  • Oversee testing of new features and user experience while performing continuous process improvement and feedback implementation opportunities 

  • Oversee the investigation, reporting, and solution of issues. 

  • Coordinate with supplier regarding bugs, customisations, and questions 

  • Create and update documentation for end users and administrators 

  • Conduct team briefings and project calls 

  • Coordinate and deliver multiple, simultaneous projects 

  • Optimise UX/UI across the platform considering WCAG standards 

  • Ensuring implementations correlate to optimise analytics  

  • Oversee testing of new features and personal changes 

  • Reviewing applications and abuse reports 

  • Pulling reports and analysis of concepts and modules 

  • Adding new chapters, modules and concepts across the platform 

  • Creating and updating how-to videos and help guides for the platform 

  • Perform continuous process improvement and feedback implementation opportunities 

  • Website/ intranet modification and updates, includingT4 training with site innovation and implementations 




  • Experience in HTML/CSS 

  • Some experience with JavaScript 

  • Problem solver 

  • Excellent IT skills, including knowledge of databases and the ability to use MS Office programmes such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams  

  • Well organised with good time management  

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to interact with ease with colleagues, alumni, current and prospective students, senior academics, and management 

  • Good knowledge of compliance legislation, e.g., the Data Protection Act, GDPR and Privacy and Electronic Communication Regulations 

  • Thorough, with a good attention to detail and a good eye for design 

  • Knowledge of current challenges in Higher Education, particularly around the student experience. 

Non-essential skills 

  • Some experience with Bootstrap and Font Awesome 

  • Any experience with website builders 

  • Responsive design 

  • Knowledge of key User Experience (UX) tools and implementation 

  • Use of Adobe XD or any other prototyping tool. 


We are seeking five (5) enthusiastic, confident, and tech-savvy QMUL students to join our team as part-time TEL (Technology Enhanced Learning) Student Ambassadors, to work with members of the TEL Team delivering TEL student inductions during Welcome Week, 18th – 22nd September 2023.

Who we are

We are the Technology Enhanced Learning Team (TELT), part of IT Services at QMUL. We provide strategic oversight of e-learning at QMUL. We are responsible for institution-wide Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) applications such as:

  1. QMplus, the online learning environment

  2. Q-Review lecture capture 

  3. Turnitin, used in assignments to assist with detecting copyright content

  4. Kaltura for media streaming 


Main duties: 

  • To deliver engaging and informative TELT inductions to new students during QM’s Welcome Week, 2023. 

As a TEL Student Ambassador, you will play a vital role in promoting the effective use of learning technologies, such as QMplus and Q-Review, to enhance the educational experience of students.

Responsibilities of the post include: 

  1. Co-deliver student inductions during the Welcome Week, alongside a member of the TEL Team. This includes presenting information, providing demonstrations, and addressing any queries or concerns raised by students. 

  2. Actively promote the benefits and features of learning applications supported by the TELT, emphasising how these technologies can enhance the learning experience. 

  3. Share your experiences with new students during face-to-face Welcome Week inductions. 


Currently enrolled as a student at Queen Mary.




  1. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

  2. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and connect with diverse audiences. 

  3. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively communicate with students and colleagues. 

  4. Willingness to work collaboratively with other student ambassadors and the TEL Team. 

  5. Ability to pick up new technologies in short order. 

  6. Available to attend training during week commencing 11th September (exact dates and times to be confirmed) 

  7. Available to work during Welcome Week (18th – 22nd Sep), Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9-5pm (exact days and hours to be confirmed)
