Are you a 2nd year international undergraduate student? Did you attend International Orientation back in September 2022? 



King’s is running focus group to gain insight from undergraduate students who may have attended International Orientation back in the past to see how this event prepared you for your time at King’s + how we can improve this event in the future. 



This focus group will run online via MS TEAMS on Friday 8th March 11-12.30pm. You will be paid for your time.

Job description 



The King's Festival of Artificial Intelligence is returning between Tuesday 21 and Saturday 25 May 2024, with a series of public events, including lectures, workshops and demonstrations, exploring artificial intelligence with researchers from across King's.  



In order to support with the smooth running of the festival, the KIAI is looking for up to ten event assistants. Event assistants will be responsible for supporting the KIAI team and lead event assistants to register attendees for events, support attendees to navigate King’s, and support event deliverers with any requirements during events. Interviews for the position will be held online on 7th and 8th May (with some flexibility to work around candidates’ other commitments).  



 Hours of work vary, but successful candidates will ideally be expected to work on at least two days between 21 and 25 May. Hours of work are varied but shifts will take place between the hours of 9am and 9pm each day. Event assistants may be required to attend a compulsory paid briefing/training session before their first shift. 



Key responsibilities 



Your responsibilities will vary but in general you may be expected to: 





  • Greet and register attendees to festival events including staffing the registration desks at the entrance to the Strand campus. 




  • Support attendees to navigate King’s including finding the correct venues for their events and make use of King’s facilities, including staffing the navigation desk outside the Great Hall.  




  • Support event organisers to distribute materials at the beginning or during an event and collect these at the end.  




  • Support with Q&As during events, for e.g. through use of microphones.  




  • Support attendees to complete evaluation forms at the end of events (if required).  




  • Report any issues that cannot be resolved immediately to a member of the KIAI team or a Lead Event Assistant. 




  • For Family Zone event assistants: support families attending the event, signposting to available facilities and assist in managing any queues for demos. 




  • This list is not exhaustive and event assistants may be asked to undertake reasonable duties in line with the role to ensure the smooth-running of the festival.

Skills

Experience/ skills required: 



Essential: experience of supporting events including but not limited to academic seminars, conferences, university open days, and outreach events. 



Essential: strong communication skills, and willingness to communicate with the general public.  



Essential: excellent organisation and time management skills with the ability to multitask.  



Desirable: interest in data science and/or AI OR public engagement opportunities.  



Desirable: experience of communicating and/or working with young people (under 18). 



Desirable: first aid trained. 



Desirable: fire marshall trained.  



Desirable: DBS checked.  

UK in a Changing Europe is an academic think tank providing impartial, research-based analysis of the critical issues facing the UK. We are funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and hosted by King’s College London.



We are looking for a researcher to support the reporting of a large-scale survey among Britain’s ethnic minorities. The successful candidate would assist with the final write-up of this project, helping to translate data findings into a narrative-driven report. They would also be responsible for checking the final write-up of this project for accuracy, cross-checking reporting with the dataset. This a short-term position but due to the tight deadline of the project, additional hours may be available for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

- A master’s degree in politics, economics or a relevant social science subject (or significant equivalent experience).



Skills

- Candidate should have experience of working with quantitative data (preferably survey/public opinion data). Experience of using R/SPSS is desirable.



- Excellent written communication skills, with an accessible, readable writing style that imparts often complex academic material with clarity, accuracy and impartiality. 



-Good experience of working as part of a busy and successful research team.



-Experience of working within a university/higher education institution is desireable. 

If you are an experienced and well-qualified graphic designer, this position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role supporting the Healthier Working Lives Impact Project - Care Stories. We are keen to explore innovative, creative ways to share research findings with a diverse audience of care workers and care business owners, as well as relevant organisations and stakeholders.



You’ll need to provide feedback to the research team and potential users about your design process and outputs, and contribute to informal formative assessments. As well as generating appropriate materials, you’ll also be required to liaise with suppliers and the wider communication team for the project. We are looking for someone who can engage the above audiences and think creatively ‘outside the box’ how we can present our findings.

For success in this role, you will need a relevant degree and experience with the following software:




  • Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects

  • Figma

  • Web design tools e.g. Readymag / Webflow

  • Premiere Pro or Davinci Resolve

  • Blender



The above should be combined with the equally important ability to understand and explain technical/specialist terminology - in order to support and communicate research outcomes.
