Job Description

To provide temporary support  for laboratory and operational services to the laboratories in Centre for Craniofacial & Regenerative Biology.




  • Provide a laboratory service involving the collection, cleaning and return of laboratory glassware.

  • Support research staff by providing an autoclave service for laboratory glassware and consumables.

  • Collect biological and clinical waste, sterilise by autoclaving and remove to dedicated waste routes.

  • Assist with filling liquid N2 cylinders and deliveries of dry ice, where required.

  • Maintain laboratory and autoclave facility in a clean and tidy state taking routine care of apparatus and equipment.

  • Responsible for general cleaning in the communal rooms.

  • Assist with minor laboratory moves and equipment relocation and disposal.

  • Arrange collection and return of laundry, managing turnover and recycling of lab coats.

  • Generate purchase orders for general chemicals and materials, when required.

  • Deliveries and follow up with the suppliers.

  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post.



Qualifications

Two A-levels in relevant subjects or equivalent vocational qualification or relevant laboratory-based experience.



Skills

  • Some experience of working in a laboratory.

  • An understanding of Health and Safety regulations and procedures.

  • Basic understanding of research techniques.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues.

  • Proven organisational and time management skills.

  • Ability to use and take care of laboratory apparatus and equipment.

  • Ability to demonstrate initiative when carrying out duties.

This is an exciting opportunity to join CyberASAP Phase 1.A Project aiming to address Risk Assessment in Transactions under Security Threat.



The financial losses in UK online banking due to fraud annually amount to almost 2 billion pounds. With the losses in online trading due to fake accounts, stolen credentials and information leaks the figure becomes truly astronomical. The design of security solutions requires complex expertise - understanding of the processes within transactional systems under threat, knowledge of potential adversaries and their malicious behaviour, justified choice of suitable tools for detection, neutralization and prevention, and their proper configuration. The need for software for modelling the security infrastructure, estimating the security risks and analyzing the impact of the solutions on security is extremely high due to the complexity of the task and the impossibility of demonstrating the solutions experimentally. this role is for the development of a desktop software application that:




  • Model transactions under security threats.

  • Design of security architecture and behaviour analysis through simulated transactions

  • Calculate the security risks based on parameters of security analytics.

  • Determination of the impact of security infrastructure on risks     



 



The ideal candidate for the AI/Software Engineer position is a current/graduated AI/Software Engineering PG student who will assist in the market research, analysis and implementation of software (Reinforcement Learning and Visualization algorithms for solving risk assessment tasks under security threats). strong AI and programming skills are required.



A mixed background that combines knowledge from various areas, such as AI, Machine Learning (ML), data science, and software engineering, as well as a deep understanding of the cyber security domain, is highly advantageous.

  • Evaluation Report (50 pages)

  • Evaluation Report Summary (5 pages)

  • Booklet outlining the impacts of Youth Safety projects  (30 pages)



There are some tables within the Evaluation report, however, most is text. There may be some photos if the local authority (who commissioned the report) allow them.

Job purpose

•    To ensure provision of a comprehensive high-level front of house service for the Director’s offices. Responsible for room bookings and meetings preparation, including in-house hospitality. 

•    To act as a first point of contact for all visitors and meeting attendees, greeting and/or directing them as appropriate.

•    To perform diverse range of administrative activities that will contribute to the smooth operation of the Director’s office, supporting and shielding the Office Manager and Administrative Officers from unnecessary disruptions.





Main duties and responsibilities

•    To assist with day-to-day activities of the Director's Office:

•    Act as a first point of contact of the Director's Office for visitors, students and staff

•    Responding to queries at the front desk as appropriate

•    Answering the telephone and directing calls as appropriate

•    Main point of contact for room bookings, ensuring that the meeting rooms are prepared for the meetings as required

•    To arrange hospitality for all Boardroom bookings and for visitors as required

•    To ensure that the reception area is tidy and presentable at all times

•    Maintain stock of relevant information, prospectuses and guides and ensure display stands are regularly updated

•    Sorting out incoming mail, accepting deliveries and distributing them as appropriate

•    Reporting (and follow through) any maintenance issues to Estates department

•    Overseeing and maintaining all supplies for the Director's Office (i.e. stationery, water, tea/coffee/milk and other catering supplies, etc.) 

•    Assuring that all equipment is being serviced and maintained as required

•    Assisting with events preparation

•    Routine updating of existing databases

•    Circulating information from the Director's office to all members of staff as assigned by Office Manager, via intranet or e-mail

•    Preparing, printing and collating relevant paperwork as required by the Office Manager or Administrative Officers

•    Preparing invoices and credit card statements/receipts for further processing by the Administrative Officers and following up any outstanding enquiries/issues as needed

•    Scanning, photocopying, shredding or filing of paperwork as required

•    To assist the Academic Coordinator and Assistant Manager in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activity, including preparing course materials, as required

•    Any other ad hoc administrative tasks (scheduling meetings, travel arrangement, credit control, petty cash, invoicing)
