Engagement Officer

Job Description

The Better Health & Care Hub is seeking an Engagement Officer to support with communications, event delivery and Patient and Public Involvement/ Engagement (PPIE). Reporting to the Centre Manager, the postholder will help with the set up of the project's PPIE Advisory Group and help to implement BHCH's communication strategy, create content, and coordinate events. 

Key Responsibilities

Patient and Public Involvement Support:

  • Carry out a scoping exercise to identify local and national organisations (Charities, CIOs, Community Groups, Patient Advocacy Groups etc) with aims relevant to the themes of the Better Health & Care Hub.
  • Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with relevant organisations to foster PPIE for the Hub.
  • Coordinate the setup of the Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Advisory group for the Better Health & Care Hub.
  • Be the first point of contact for all PPIE queries

Communications Support:

  • Produce and share content for web, articles, social media, newsletters, and promotional materials.
  • Support the development of the new microsite.
  • Assist with bookings, invitations, and logistics for events.
  • Provide on-the-day support (registration, guest management, photography, etc.) for events.

 

Additional responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day administration of the Better Health & Care Hub and support the Hub Director and Operational team as required.

 

                                 Hours of work will be split equally between Communications and PPIE engagement

Essential:

  • Previous experience in communications, marketing, or events.
  • Previous experience in an administrative role.
  • An understanding of the relevance of PPIE for academic research.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong writing, content creation, and event coordination skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of Patient and Public Involvement/ Engagement (either as a participant or coordinator)
  • A knowledge of the UK third sector
  • Experience in higher education or health sectors is desirable.

 

Additional Details

  • Location: Working from home/hybrid- based at King's College London (Waterloo or Denmark Hill Campuses as required).
  • Pay Rate: 21.09 per hour.
  • Hours: 5 days/week (Flexibility available).
  • Length of contract: Until 31st July with potential to extend.

Urgently Hiring: Examination Support Assistants Needed to Ensure Smooth Exam Operations

Main Purpose of the Role:
To play a vital role in supporting the efficient and secure delivery of examinations.

Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking reliable and detail-oriented individuals to assist the Head Invigilator and Examination Team in the day-to-day running of exam venues. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Setting up examination venues by arranging seating, distributing exam materials, and ensuring all equipment is in place following strict guidelines.

Supporting candidates upon arrival by directing them to seats and explaining rules regarding permitted items.

Assisting unregistered candidates who may not have allocated seating.

Maintaining exam integrity by ensuring silence and order in the examination room.

Invigilating exams, addressing candidate concerns, and reporting any irregularities per established procedures.

Recording attendance and managing early departures by collecting scripts and documenting necessary information.

Escorting and supervising candidates outside the venue when required.

Collecting and organizing scripts at the end of each exam, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols.

Preparing script envelopes and handling exam materials securely.

Supervising candidate departure, ensuring materials are not removed, and maintaining a quiet, controlled exit process.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Tissue Bank Technician to provide technical support to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund Tissue Bank (PCRFTB), to enable comprehensive, efficient and effective service to internal and external researchers. In particular, sample processing, quality control, management of PCRFTB samples, general house-keeping and stock taking. 

This is a full time position for a duration of 3 months. We will be paying the successful candidate between ?17.97 - ?21.62 per hour plus holiday pay depending on experience. 

 



Qualifications

First Degree in biological sciences

Minimum of 2 A Levels in relevant subjects (e.g. Biology, Chemistry)



Skills
Working knowledge of Health and Safety, COSHH and GCP regulations and an understanding of the implications of compliance with the Human Tissue Act (HTA)
Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures
Experience in handling and processing human tissue in an oncology research environment
