Entrepreneurship sits at the core of QMUL and plays a vital role in driving innovation, creativity, and problem-solving. As part of our growing focus on entrepreneurial culture, we are expanding activities and events that inspire students and staff to explore new ideas, build valuable skills, and connect with like-minded entrepreneurs. To support this mission, we are seeking a dynamic Entrepreneurship Events and Activity Assistant to work closely with our Enterprise Team and Associate Director of Entrepreneurship in planning and executing a wide range of engaging initiatives. 


Key Responsibilities

Event Planning & Execution: 

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of entrepreneurial events, including workshops, training sessions, showcase and networking events. 
  • Provide logistical support before, during and after entrepreneurial events to facilitate effective communication with speakers and the entrepreneurial community. 
  • Venue & Resource Management: Book and manage rooms, catering, and required resources for events to ensure smooth operations.
     

Marketing & Promotion: 

  • Promote events across the university using newsletters, social media, and student networks to maximise participation. 
     

Administrative Support: 

  • Maintain event schedules, track attendance, gather feedback, and support budgeting and reporting activities.

  • Experience in organising events or managing projects, ideally in a university setting
  • Familiarity with room booking processes and campus event logistics is desirable
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and desire to play a vital role in fostering innovation within our QMUL community
  • Social media proficiency 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning of the three ?transition to work? workshops, including inputting ideas, promotion and administration
  • Attend and provide logistical support during the events, and record the outputs of the session
  • Facilitate any follow ups after the sessions, including co-ordinating feedback
  • Reviewing and collecting participant feedback, making recommendations for future practice and governance
     

About You

We're looking for a current international student, holding Student immigration permission, to support the creation, administration and implementation of a Student Experience project to help international students transition to work. You'll work directly with representatives from Careers and Enterprise and Advice and Counselling. 

You must be available to attend and facilitate the three events which will take place on 21 May 2025, 4 June 2025 and 11 June 2025. Each session will take place 15:30-17:00 and you will be expected to be available before and afterwards to help set up and close the sessions.

  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Willingness to bring creativity and use initiative to facilitate engaging events

  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and time management skills
  • Innovative, problem-solving abilities- able to understand big-picture thinking, limitations and barriers, to provide creative recommendations

Desirable:

  • International student at QMUL ending in September 2025 who has had considerable time to understand and demonstrate what services are available at the university.
  • Experience in organising and promoting events or managing projects/similar is preferable.

Represent the King's Institute for Artificial Intelligence at an external event taking place in Plymouth for local businesses and councils. Promote the collaboration opportunities available to external organisations and the benefits that working with the King's Institute for Artificial Intelligence can bring. Read briefing documents in advance of the event and be able to speak with conviciton about King's strengths in Artificial Intelligence, particularly those relevant to the concerns of external organisations including SMEs - for example, responsible innovation and ethical adoption and deployment. 



Qualifications

Educated to degree level (essential)

Completed or working towards a PHD in AI or a closely related field. 



Skills

A broad grounding in artificial intelligence and a good general knowledge of artificial intelligence. 

A sound understanding of some of the concerns of SMEs and other external organisations in AI adoption and deployment

A good understanding of the aims and purpose of the King's Institute for Artificial Intelligence, and its activities. 

Experience of working with the King's Institute for Artificial Intelligence. 

Experience of working with SMEs and external learners in the delivery of online professional development courses.
