Event Assistant STRAND CAMPUS On Campus Open Day

Job Description

We are looking for Event Assistants to provide support at our On-Campus Undergraduate Open Day event on Saturday 7 September 2024 where prospective students will experience King's and discover their study options.   
 
There are a number of jobs required for this event. It includes:  

  • Accommodation Tour Guide 
  • Admissions Assistant 
  • Gym Tour Assistant (take visitors from Bush House to Strand gym) 
  • HQ Assistant 
  • Information Point Assistant 
  • Open Day Steward 
  • Registration Assistant 
  • Room Assistant

The majority of the above roles will be working from 09:00 with the exception of HQ and Registration Assistants who will need to start at 08:00. All roles include a 1 hour unpaid lunch break and lunch vouchers will be provided.
 
In order to fulfil the requirements for this role, you will be required to watch a short briefing video which will be sent to you upon allocation. Unfortunately, we cannot pay you for this time.

Summary:  

Support and assist King's Climate & Sustainability (KCS) to manage our engagement activities. These activities include Staff Sustainability Champions, King's Climate Action Network, behaviour change campaigns (waste and travel), Sustainability Projects Fund, Carbon Literacy Training and developing other relevant training materials. 

It is crucial that the Sustainability Engagement Assistant works alongside the Sustainability Engagement Officer, and as part of the KCS team, to understand and contribute to the team's engagement priorities for maximum impact.

Role information:  

This role is hybrid and flexible. The KCS office is based in Strand. 

Start date: Monday 6th January 2025 (flexible around the examination period) 
End date: Friday 6th June 2025  

Interview dates: 

Thursday 12th & Friday 13th December 2024 
 

Tasks may include (but not limited to):  

  • Develop a database and conduct data analysis to track impact 
  • Develop and align various feedback forms 
  • Support engagement activities in advance of the waste campaign
  • Provide admin support for ad-hoc tasks 
  • Collect case studies from Sustainability Champions 
  • Support the running of events (e.g. academic panel events on travel and offsetting)  
  • Complete administrative tasks for Sustainability Champions audits in May 2025    
  • Update guidance for sustainable travel 
  • Support with the roll-out of Carbon Literacy Training 
  • Support organising the annual Sustainability Awards ceremony 
  • Help managing sustainability volunteers 
  • Help developing sustainability training for Workrite 


Qualifications

The GNET intern will assist the Project Manager with various tasks, including but not limited to social media management, event promotion, data organization, and potentially copy editing. Ad Hoc tasks will also arise. Strong communication skills, cultural competency, and organisation are very ideal. You are not expected to be a terrorism and tech expert; you will learn along the way!

Working as part of the King?s Foundations Programmes Team as a Receptionist on a Wednesday, providing high-quality administrative support to the King?s International Foundation (KIF) and Pre-Sessional programmes.  

The person in this role will be expected to assist in the provision of front-line reception (online and on-campus) support as the first point of contact for students and teaching staff. They will need to work flexibly as part of a team, supporting all stages of the academic cycle, including enrolment, teaching and assessment, with an understanding of a good student experience. They will be required to carry out their tasks in a professional and timely manner, with appropriate confidentiality, sensitivity and adherence to GDPR.

Please note this role is for one day a week on a Wednesday (9-5). The role is until 26th March 2025 with possibility for extension.
