Job Description: After School Club Driver/ Assistant



Purpose of the job:



To collect children from school and assist in day to day delivery of the After School provision at Childcare Services at Queen’s providing high standards of care and play opportunities for children between the ages of 4 - 11 years old in a safe and secure environment.



Main Duties and Responsibilities:




  • To be responsible for the safe collection of children from school using a vehicle provided by Childcare Services

  • To maintain a safe and stimulating play environment and to assist with developing opportunities which encourage children’s social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development through play.

  • To ensure the provision offers a safe and stimulating play environment.

  • To assist with the planning, preparing and delivery of activities, which meet children’s individual developmental needs.

  • To supervise refreshments for the children.

  • To follow guidelines and procedures for safeguarding in accordance with Childcare Services policies & procedures.

  • To carry out any other duties which are appropriate to the post as may be reasonably requested by Managers or Supervisors



Qualifications

Childcare qualifications desired but not essential



Skills

You will need to be:



You will need to be someone who has a genuine interest in and have enthusiastiasm for all aspects of childcare and education. You will need to have a caring and dynamic approach as well as an ability to manage a group of children.



You must also have good communication and interpersonal skills, be capable of following oral and written instructions, be flexible, demonstrate a commitment to providing a safe and caring environment for children and have the ability to work well as member of a team.



You must have a full clean driving licence and consent to the necessary pre-employment checks required for the role.

Availability needed between 08.00 – 18.00 Monday Friday



20 Hours per week



Flexibility is required for evening and weekend work if necessary.



MAJOR DUTIES:




  1. Liaise with Facility and Events Co-Ordinator to provide seamless delivery of classes within the Student Hub, moving partition walls in various spaces to meet timetable requirements.

  2. Re-arrange rooms for meetings, classes, exams, conferences, functions, etc., for internal and external bodies as required.

  3. Provide technical assistance for using equipment, e.g. audio-visual equipment/systems.

  4. Assist with cleaning, storing and restocking teaching equipment, including whiteboards and flipcharts.

  5. As required, assist with the movement of equipment, furniture and posts between buildings on the campus.

  6. Work closely with the reception team and building cleaners/janitor, ensuring all spaces are maintained to the highest possible standard. 



Qualifications

1. Educated to Secondary School level.



Skills

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:



1. Educated to Secondary School level.



2. At least 1 year’s work experience in a customer-facing role.



3. Appropriate level of numeracy and literacy skills.



4. Basic knowledge of audio visual equipment.



6. Good communication skills.



7. Good interpersonal skills.



8. Ability to work as part of a team.



9. Casual overtime is available and there is a requirement, from time to time, to work outside normal office hours.



 

For this role all applicants must be a current Queen's University Belfast student. 



This role promotes and provides administrative and operational assistance for Queen's Sport events and activities. This may include jobs such as



- Social Media Posts



- Operational Set up and support of programmes such as Recreational Soccer Leagues



- Assisting with operational support for Performance Sports Games at Upper Malone Playing Field



- You will be supporting the Queen's Sport Development team in the delivery of their programmes

- First Aid

- Knowledge and enthusiasm for sport and fitness.

- Knowledge of Queen's Sport events and Programmes both Participation and Performance



- Experience leading out on a physical activity/ sports programme

For this role all applicants must be a current Queen's University Belfast Student.



This role promote and provide administrative and operational assistance for Active Campus events and activities. This may include jobs such as:



- Social Media Posts



- Operational set up and support of Active Campus programmes and events such as Halloween Dodgeball and Staff Badminton. 



- Assist with Information events about Active Campus both on the Main Campus of QUB and other Queen's Sport sites



Through this role you will be supporting the Participation team of the Queen's Sport Development Team in their delivery of Active Campus Programmes.
