Qualifications

You must be a registered postgraduate research student at Queen's University Belfast pursuing postgraduate research in Geography or closely cognate discipline. In your cover letter please indicate degrees awarded to date, the number years of your current programme that you have completed and whether you have been through differentiation. If you are registered as 'Thesis Only' please note this in your cover letter. Please also indicate that you have permission from your supervisor to undertake the teaching you are applying for. Finally, please provide the name and email address of your supervisor.

Field researchers will facilitate intercept surveys at various public locations across Belfast (e.g., parks, shopping centres, train stations). This will involve approaching members of the public and asking them to participate in an online interviewer-assisted survey.  

Field researchers will assist participants in completing an online survey that is expected to take 30 minutes to complete. The field researcher will answer any questions that the participant may have and provide assistance when needed. 

Training will be provided to familiarise field researchers with the survey tool, and during data collection a member of the research team will be on-site for supervision. 

It is anticipated that the field researcher will help out with data collection for one day per week (8 hours) during September ? November 2024.

Essential criteria: 

  • Registered student/staff at Queen?s University Belfast. 

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience using online survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, Google Forms).
  • Experience conducting field research (e.g., intercept surveys, interviews).
  • Experience of taking initiative and solving problems in a working/volunteering environment with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to complete the training required to undertake the role.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours ? this may include on weekends (one day). Some evening work may be required. 

Queen's Sport and Queen's GAA wish to appoint a part time GAA Administrative assistant for Queen?s University Belfast. The post holder will assist Queen's GAA to administer, co-ordinate and support the delivery of Club and Student Development, Events, Participation and Performance programmes, projects and initiatives.

These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list. Other reasonable duties may be required consistent with the grade of the post.

This role will be based on up to 10 hours a week from September 2024 to March 2025 (this is a temporary role with the possibility of extension & additional hours). The role will mainly be based between Queen's Sport PEC & Queen's Sport Upper Malone however, some travel may be required.

LawPod is a podcast created by staff and students in the School of Law. It produces weekly episodes exploring a range of social and legal issues in an accessible way and aims to provide a platform for the research done at Queen?s University. Now entering its 8th year, to date it has produced over 195 episodes and has had over 100,000 unique listeners.  

LawPod is recruiting a Student Coordinator for the academic year 2024-2025 (commencing mid-September 2024, specific date to be agreed with the successful candidate). 

 

Role description 

The successful applicant?s role will be as follows: 


Supporting LawPod?s Co-Directors and Producer, with the organisation and management of LawPod.

To be a point of contact for students on the Wednesday afternoon session.

To promote the podcast via our social media accounts and build our audience across the university and beyond. 

To be a point of contact for PhD Students to promote their research. 

 

The post will require a commitment of 2 hours per week on average, up to a maximum of 48 hours during the year for which the post holder will receive a payment of ?17.51 per hour (the university?s AC1 rate).  

 

We welcome applications from current postgraduate research students. However, we unfortunately cannot accept applications from final year PhD students. Please also note that PhD students can be employed in the School for a maximum of 6 hours/week, so please take into account any other work commitments you have before applying.
