Part-Time Porter at QBS  - Applicants must be QWORK Compliant 



Availability needed between 08.00 – 18.00 Monday Friday



20 Hours per week



Flexibility is required for evening and weekend work if necessary.



MAJOR DUTIES:




  1. Liaise with Facility and Events Co-Ordinator to provide seamless delivery of classes within the Student Hub, moving partition walls in various spaces to meet timetable requirements.

  2. Re-arrange rooms for meetings, classes, exams, conferences, functions, etc., for internal and external bodies as required.

  3. Provide technical assistance for using equipment, e.g. audio-visual equipment/systems.

  4. Assist with cleaning, storing and restocking teaching equipment, including whiteboards and flipcharts.

  5. As required, assist with the movement of equipment, furniture and posts between buildings on the campus.

  6. Work closely with the reception team and building cleaners/janitor, ensuring all spaces are maintained to the highest possible standard. 



Qualifications

1. Educated to Secondary School level.



Skills

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:



1. Educated to Secondary School level.



2. At least 1 year’s work experience in a customer-facing role.



3. Appropriate level of numeracy and literacy skills.



4. Basic knowledge of audio visual equipment.



6. Good communication skills.



7. Good interpersonal skills.



8. Ability to work as part of a team.



9. Casual overtime is available and there is a requirement, from time to time, to work outside normal office hours.

This role will be based on up to 15 hours a week from November 2023 to March 2024 (this is a temporary role with the possibility of extension & additional hours). The role will mainly be based between Queen's Sport PEC & Queen's Sport Upper Malone however, some travel may be required.

Exercise Referral Instructor



The Exercise Referral programme delivered by Queen’s Sport Active Campus in partnership with QUBeWell uses physical activity as a mechanism for treating students who attend the wellbeing services.



 Students who come through the programme are often living with a range of mental health problems, could be suffering from stress and anxiety or have other health needs. This referral programme has shown significant impact on student wellbeing across campus; a combination of structured support within key areas enhance mood, reduce isolation and for many, advances academic performance. We are seeking an Exercise Referral Instructor to inform, encourage, support and signpost clients to the most appropriate form of physical activity. You will be responsible for reviewing personal activity programmes, offering initial consultations, performing progress reviews, and conducting assessments with clients who have been referred from student wellbeing. You will hold a Level 3 Exercise Referral Qualification (or equivalent) and have the ability to build rapport and develop effective working relationships. Hours of work will be variable dependent upon the needs of the business. Hours will be based on the needs and times of the specific referrals.



What does the role entail? As an Exercise Referral Instructor your main duties will include:



· Working with clients with a range of health conditions, ensuring that scheme protocols are adhered to.



· Arranging one-to-one meetings with clients to explore and understand their needs and to agree an appropriately tailored programme.



· Preparing individually tailored fitness programmes for client plans and to provide exercise and lifestyle recommendations; whilst taking into account health conditions and exercise history.



· Reviewing client’s progress through the scheme through regular and structured follow-up meetings; adapting their individual programme as appropriate and ensuring that the consultation structure is maintained throughout the scheme.



· Acquiring knowledge on the facilities and programmes offered by the University in order to provide a holistic approach to clients and to recommend appropriate exercise and lifestyle modifications.



 · Maintaining thorough and accurate patient documentation including notes of meetings, individual programmes and progress for each client; implementing strict data management protocols ensuring compliance with legislation.



· Signposting clients to appropriate exit routes, including those offered by Queen’s Sport.



· Liaising with all parties involved in the scheme, including communicating with Student Wellbeing, regarding any concerns for patient’s wellbeing.



· Ensuring the development of good practice in the delivery of exercise referral programmes by researching evidence regarding exercise and medical conditions.



· Ensuring the safe and proper use of the equipment by clients.



 · Assisting in the evaluation and collection of data from participants in order to monitor and improve the scheme.



· Assisting the Participation Development Officers in preparing cases for funding with relevant partners.



· Working to individual and group key performance indicators (KPI’s) and targets.



· Working within and ensuring adherence to the University’s and Sport and Physical Activity’s Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity policies.

· A First aid qualification.



· Mental Health First aid qualification.



· Group exercise class quailifications ie; Indoor Cycling, exercise to music, Kettlebells, Pilates.

· Experience and knowledge of designing personal programmes, fitness testing and gym inductions.
