Job Title: Videographer & Content Creator



Job Type: Part-Time



Salary: £19.62 per hour (average 10 hours per week)



Start Date: 11th March 2024 (can be flexible with your timetable)



End Date: August 2024 (maximum of 30 weeks)

We are seeking a talented and creative Part-Time Videographer to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a passion for storytelling through video and a strong eye for detail. This individual will be responsible for both capturing and editing high-quality video content, mainly in the ‘talking-head’ style, to capture authentic staff and student voices from across the institution of Queen’s University, Belfast. This video content will be published on our Digital Assessment & Feedback Toolkit (on SharePoint) and will ultimately support staff in enhancing their assessment and feedback practices.



 



Key Responsibilities



Video Production:




  • Capture high-quality video footage using 4K camera and high-quality audio equipment.

  • Set up and manage lighting, audio, and other production equipment for shoots.

  • Plan and execute video shoots, including framing, composition, and shot selection.

  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition.

  • Assist the interviewer and interviewee with ad-hoc video production-related needs.



Video Editing:




  • Store and organise raw video footage securely and in a clear and logical system.

  • Plan and storyboard raw footage into compelling, cohesive videos.

  • Add music, b-roll footage, graphics, and other elements to enhance the visual appeal of the videos.

  • Use video editing software to create engaging and professional content.

  • Ensure that the final videos meet the company's branding and project messaging guidelines.



Content Development:




  • Collaborate with Laura Farling (project coordinator) and creative teams to develop video concepts and storyboards.

  • Propose innovative ideas and approaches to video content that align with the project objectives.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in video production.



Project Management:




  • Manage multiple video projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Maintain organised records of video assets, including backups and archives.

  • Communicate effectively with the project coordinator, video subjects, and other team members to align to project goals and deadlines.



Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a current student at Queen’s University, Belfast.

  • Proven experience as a videographer, with a portfolio of previous work.

  • Proficiency in video recording and editing software (e.g. Camtasia, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, etc.).

Queen’s University seek to recruit a number of Team Leaders to work for 8-week period from the 26th June. The post holders will assist in the co-ordination and delivery of a programme of supervised indoor and outdoor activities, across a variety of sporting and non-sporting themes. You will assist with the supervision of Activity Leaders and casual coaches in delivering safe, progressive and enjoyable activities suitable for children of all ages and abilities.



You will be the first point of contact for enquiries from parents and will ensure all incidents and accidents are recorded and reported to the Summer Scheme Co-ordinator on a daily basis. You will assist in the supervision of the children participating in the scheme, overseeing the general safety and behaviour of the children by directing and supervising activities to prevent injury, misuse and damages to facilities or equipment.



You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to provide clear direction and guidance. This is a full-time position from 26 June – 18 August 2023 (inclusive to staff training) and successful candidates will be expected to have availability throughout this period. The post meets the definition of regulated activity and requires an enhanced disclosure check.



The Summer Scheme at Queen’s Sport is a popular programme that offers children aged 6 - 14 years old a high-quality activity experience. Children can learn new skills that promote an active lifestyle by providing opportunities to try new sports in a fun and supportive environment.

MAIN ACTIVITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:



Assist the Co-ordinator as required in planning and implementing a programme of supervised indoor and outdoor activities, across a variety of sporting and non-sporting themes.



To assist with the supervision of Activity Leaders and casual coaches in delivering safe, progressive and enjoyable activities suitable for children of all ages and abilities.

PLANNING AND ORGANISING:

Plan weekly work programmes for team of 4 Activity Leaders.



Plan and organise sporting and non-sporting activities for group of children on a daily / weekly basis.



RESOURCE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES (e.g. People, Finance, Equipment):



Manage work programme of 4 Activity Leaders on a weekly basis.



Facilitate weekly meetings with Activity Leaders.



Responsible for health, safety and well being of approximately 40 children on a daily basis with activity leaders.



Assist with management of inventory.



INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:



Liaise with Co-ordinator on a daily basis.



Liaise with parents on a daily basis.



Liaise with administrative and operational staff within Queen’s Sport on a regular basis.



Qualifications

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade C or above) or equivalent, including English Language and a mathematical based subject.



DESIRABLE



A sports leader award or coaching award in any sport.



Be a qualified school teacher with a minimum of one year’s teaching experience within the previous five years.



First Aid qualification.



Previous experience of supervising staff in a children’s scheme or other sporting initiative.



Hold a current valid driving licence and have use of a car during the scheme.



Skills

Previous experience as an Activity Leader for a minimum period of four months within the last two years OR as a Team Leader for a minimum period of two months within the last year in other sporting or non sporting initiatives for children.



DESIRABLE



Recent experience in working with children (full-time or part-time) for a minimum period of six months (within the last 2 years).



Recent experience of implementing safe sporting and non-sporting activities to young people following Covid guidelines within an education and/or sporting context.

Climate litigation is rapidly becoming a global phenomenon, placing courts as essential players in climate governance to advance and protect human rights. Climate litigation in the Global South, in particular, is an essential tool to address heightened vulnerability and protect human rights. Given this growing trend, since 2021 the GNHRE project, "Climate Litigation in the Global South", has been collaborating with scholars from the Global South and beyond to produce novel research that amplifies Global South perspectives and experiences of climate action in the courts. The project team is currently developing an edited volume to be published by Routledge titled Climate Litigation and Vulnerabilities: Global South Perspectives, featuring contributions on litigation strategy, indigenous peoples’ struggles for climate justice, and women and children as vulnerable groups. The contributions are primarily by emerging scholars from the Global South. The first draft manuscript is due for submission at the end of June 2024. As such, most chapters are currently being finalised following internal review or undergoing external anonymous peer review.



 



A research assistant is required to work with the project leaders from 1 April until 31 December 2024 on the following tasks:




  • Supporting the peer review process, including engaging with reviewers and authors, ensuring a peer-review tracking sheet is maintained and updated, etc.;

  • Indexing (reviewing chapters and compiling and index of relevant words);

  • Proof-reading chapters and ensuring compliance with OSCOLA style and Routledge’s formatting and style requirements;

  • Assisting with the preparation of an annotated bibliography to support research related to the project;

  • Proof-reading the full manuscript once page-proofs are prepared by the publisher;

  • Assisting with arrangements for events planned in July and October 2024.



Qualifications

An LLM in Environmental Law, comparative study and knowledge of climate litigation in various jurisdictions will be an advantage;
